Endowment Funds

Endowment income provides stable, permanent funding that supports the teams and initiatives that are the core of our work. It enables the Conservancy to continue its vital work in uncertain financial times.

An endowment gift is an opportunity for friends of the Conservancy to leave an enduring legacy by endowing the core elements of our mission – providing the income that will allow us to plan for current and future needs to protect, promote and enhance our national park for future generations.

The Mignon Steere Fund

Mignon Steere’s family wanted to find a meaningful way to remember her life that connected her love of the park and her volunteer experience at Portage Path where she taught kids how to read. 
 
When Bill met with Conservancy staff, he was moved to learn the Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center provides scholarships to underprivileged students from schools like Portage Path. Some of these kids from urban areas have never seen grasshoppers, lighting bugs, or have ever been able to wade in a river.
 
Mignon Steere Fund for Cuyahoga Valley National Park Environmental Education was created at the Akron Community Foundation. The Fund supports the park’s youth environmental education programs with a focus on providing scholarships to students from Portage Path.
