Peninsula, Ohio - Akron-area artist Arnold Tunstall's work captures the meaning of living in the Midwest. Viewers of his exhibit will certainly connect with the artists roots.
The exhibition entitled "Natural Elements" will open from 2 - 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 11 and run through Friday, November 4 at the John F. Seiberling Gallery. The gallery is located at 1403 West Hines Hill Road, within the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park offices in Peninsula. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
Tunstall sought a different path for his work to honor a personal hero John F. Seiberling. "I wanted to honor the legacy of Congressman Seiberling by looking at my past images of the natural world," Tunstall said. "He is probably the main reasons this beautiful park even exists."
Tunstall earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Akron in 1985 before entering graduate school at Ohio University where he received his Master of Fine Arts in photography in 1991.
Tunstall uses traditional medium format cameras and occasionally an old black plastic camera produced in the 1960s with only minimal control. His photos, which often seem be taken several decades ago, are printed to give a timeless portrayal.
