4/16/2008
Peninsula, Ohio - Cuyahoga Valley National Park Association (CVNPA) is pleased to announce the planned opening of a new store in Peninsula early this summer. The new store, Park Place in Peninsula, will feature books, gifts, and park related items selected to serve park visitors and to promote Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Park Place in Peninsula will be open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week.
The store will also serve as an information center for the national park and the association. Cuyahoga Valley National Park Association is leasing the property that formerly housed the Blue Heron Bookstore.
“Many park visitors have a meal, get off the train, or ride their bikes into Peninsula and they are seeking information about the park, and are interested in purchasing items related to the park,” said CVNPA Chief Executive Officer, Deb Yandala. “We look forward to serving visitors as well as area residents and being part of the business community in Peninsula.”
According to Debbie D’Andrea, an owner of the Blue Heron, “the location is central to Cuyahoga Valley National Park and we found that many visitors believed us to be a park store. The Blue Heron makes the perfect locale and venue for CVNPA’s initiative of building awareness, participation and support for the national park.”
Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad will be a collaborating partner and railroad themed gifts and books will be highlighted. CVNPA also plans to promote local and sustainable products. They will retain the charming children’s area of the former bookstore and continue to have family and children’s programs and activities.
