Peninsula, Ohio - Cuyahoga Valley National Park Association (CVNPA) is proud to announce the opening of the art exhibit A Lazy Series by George DiSabato at the John F. Seiberling Gallery in the CVNPA Administrative Offices at 1403 West Hines Hill Road, Peninsula in Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP). The exhibit is curated by Simone Hoover.
The show opens June 9, 2008 and runs through July 26, 2008, with a reception on Friday, June 13, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. A Lazy Series is an exhibition of drawing, collage and painting. Mr. DiSabato says, While all my work has derived in some way from the landscape or from landscape painters or even from paintings I saw as landscapes, this group has come from the views out the window of our house built four years ago.
Mr. DiSabato is a graduate of the Ohio State University (B.F.A. Painting, l961) and The University of Louisville (M.A. Painting, l964). He studied with Carl Holty who was, among other things, a student of Hans Hoffman and the first president of the American Abstract Artists League. George's career in graphic design started in l960 in Canton, Ohio, which was followed by art direction in Columbus, Ohio, and then 16 years of design and production work in New York City for the advertising and publications industries. He was also a practicing painter while in New York and his work is in various corporate and private collections there and in England.
Mr. DiSabato has exhibited his work in a variety of locations and exhibits, most recently in a group show at the Allen R. Hite Alumni Exhibition in Louisville, Kentucky. He has presented work in various faculty exhibitions at The University of Akron, where he has been a Professor of Art at the Myers School of Art since 1981.
