Peninsula- Cuyahoga Valley National Park Association (CVNPA) is pleased to announce the extension of the exhibit Cuyahoga Valley and Beyond, Images of Northeast Ohio which displays works by local photographer, Wayne Mazorow. The show will run through August 13, 2010 at the Seiberling Gallery located in the CVNPA administrative building, 1403 W. Hines Hill Road Peninsula, OH. Gallery Hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and weekends
Wayne Mazorow, who specializes in landscape photography, spends time getting the right photo by focusing on dew points, temperatures and precipitation. After heavy frosts, he heads to the low valley. In the spring, he seeks budding trees and blossoming flowers. In the fall, he looks for the best foliage. Mazorow shoots at different times of the day and tends to focus on local scenery in Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the surrounding parks.
“Many of the photographs were made in recognizable locations, while others could have been made anywhere. However, whether a location is recognizable or not, I hope that the images are unique and have a surreal appearance. I feel that I have successfully made a photograph when the two dimensional space, the essence of an area is conveyed, and the viewer has the sense of being there.”
“While these images were made in protected areas, there are many similar areas that are unprotected and are in danger of development. The various types of wetland habitat are especially sensitive to development. It is hoped that from these images people will be introduced to the geographic and biodiversity of northeast Ohio’s protected areas, from the well known to the hidden.”
