Five Sites, Endless Adventures
For adventurous visitors looking for an overnight camping experience, check out the park’s five sites along the Stanford Trail (behind Stanford House). Backcountry and Towpath Trail hikers, families, and scout troops can take a load off for the evening and enjoy Cuyahoga Valley National Park under the stars.

Welcome to the Stanford Camping area. These campsites are for Towpath Trail and trail users only. Drive-up use is not permitted. The campsites are available from Memorial Day weekend through October 31. Camping is by reservation only and tent only. With a confirmed reservation, you are not required to check-in, and you may go directly to your site after 12 p.m. on the day of your arrival. Stanford Campsite staff will make nightly rounds to confirm reservations. You must depart your site by 12 p.m. on the final day of your stay.
The Stanford Office and Outpost Store is open 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Ice is available for sale. Overnight Parking is prohibited at the Stanford Trailhead. Please park your vehicle at Boston Store Visitor Center, 1550 W Boston Mills Road, Peninsula, OH 44264 and hike about 1/2 mile into your site. If you choose to park elsewhere before hiking into the sites, the following areas are approved for overnight parking: Rockside Station, Canal Exploration Center, Frazee House, Station Road Bridge, Red Lock, Lock 29, Hunt Farm, Indigo Lake, Ira Trailhead, and Botzum. If parking a vehicle overnight in an area other than Boston Store Visitor Center, please inform the NPS Communication Center by calling 800-433-1986.
Camp in Designated Areas Only. Campsites are numbered and delineated by mowed areas. There are five tent sites. There is a limitation of six people and two tents per site. A water tank and a portable toilet are located in the developed area by the Stanford Barn. Camping is not permitted at the group fire ring.
Pack It In, Pack It Out. Be good stewards and pack out what you pack in. Keep your site clean, the way you would like to find it.
Keep Wildlife Wild! Feeding, disturbing, or molesting animals is prohibited. Secure your food and trash. Use the food storage posts provided. Leaving food and trash out brings ants, mice, raccoons, and other animals into your campsite.
Campfires Are Only Allowed in the Group Fire Ring. Use firewood that is provided in the storage shed. Do not gather wood within the park. No bonfires are allowed. Due to the danger of blowing sparks, all fires must be extinguished prior to retiring at night or vacating the site. A bucket to haul water is stored in the shed with the firewood.
Fires must not be left unattended at any time. Individual fires are not permitted at each site. Camping is not permitted at the group fire ring.
Alcoholic Beverages Are Not Permitted.
Pets Must Remain Under Physical Control At All Times. Pets must be kept in a tent or on a leash no greater than six-feet long. Pets must not be left unattended. Please clean up after them.
Quiet Hours Are 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Please be considerate of your fellow campers.
Leave What You Find. All plants, animals, artifacts, and other natural resources are protected by law in national parks.

The $3.50 reservation fee is non-refundable. Cancelling a reservation at any time, will incur an additional $3.50 fee withheld from your refund. Cancelling a reservation within 2 days of arrival, will incur a 100% penalty, and will not produce a refund. If a refund is owed, it will go back to the original credit card used to book your reservation.
