GAR Foundation Awards $1 million to the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park

The Distribution Committee of GAR Foundation announced a $1 million grant to the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park at its August meeting. The grant supports the building of a new Visitor Center for the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and the Conservancy’s Trails Forever campaign, an initiative which directly engages the public to ensure that the Conservancy trail system is maintained and preserved for all time, for all people. Craig Kenkel Selected as New Superintendent at Cuyahoga Valley National Park

Craig Kenkel has been selected as the Superintendent of Cuyahoga Valley National Park headquartered in Brecksville, Ohio. Currently serving as Superintendent at San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park in San Francisco, Calif., Kenkel succeeds Stanley Austin, who became the National Park Service Southeast Regional Director in July 2013, and begins this new assignment this Spring (specific date yet to be determined). Read more >

Conservancy for CVNP and Western Reserve Racing Partner for Running Series in the Park

The Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP) and Western Reserve Racing are excited to introduce a new partnership that will allow runners to experience their national park and give back at the same time. Western Reserve Racing’s vision is to provide runners and race directors with Ohio’s finest race experience, as well as encourage exploration of local communities and park systems. To support those initiatives, a Conservancy-branded running series in the fall, along with two races in the spring, will provide the running community with several exciting races while also supporting key projects in the national park.  Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park Elects New Chairman of the Board

The Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park has appointed Lee Chilcote as its new Chairman of the Board of Directors. Chilcote will begin this position on January 1, 2013, after the term expiration of outgoing Chairperson, Chuck Mlakar, CEO of Millcraft Paper. Mlakar was elected Chairman of the Board Emeritus. Read more >

The Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park has introduced Ollie the River Otter as its new mascot. The name Ollie was selected by several area children as part of a naming contest held by the Conservancy. Read more >
